Vocalist Nikolai Arutyunov of the 'Blues League' Has Died
Nikolai Arutyunov, a renowned singer, has passed away at the age of sixty-three. This was reported by RIA Novosti. The family has not disclosed the causes of his death.
Nikolai Arutyunov (Ter-Harutyunyan) was born in Moscow. After the Armenian Genocide, the only surviving member of the Ter-Harutyunyan family was Nikolai's grandfather, Nzhdeh, who settled in Moscow.
Nikolai Arutyunov was a well-known singer and songwriter, deemed one of the brilliant Armenians of the world according to the book “A Wonderful Nation from the World of Wonders.” He began his musical career with Stas Namin's band, “Tsvety” (Цветы). In 1979, he realized his most famous project, the band “Blues League” (Лига блюза).
He performed in various musical genres including blues, rock-blues, soul, funk, and hard rock. Nikolai Arutyunov created groups such as Лига Блюза, Четверг Арутюнова, Николай Арутюнов & The Blues Barbarians, Арутюнов & Quorum, The Booze Band, and Funky Soul, serving as their lead vocalist.
