Has Onik Gasparyan Been Summoned for Questioning in a Criminal Case Under Investigation by the NSS?

According to information circulating on social media, the next hero of the show of arrests initiated by the authorities may potentially be the former Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces, Onik Gasparyan. The political leadership hopes that they can at least divert public attention from the security issues threatening Armenia and the Armenian people.

It is noteworthy that today, within the framework of the criminal case being investigated by the NSS, former Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan has been detained, and an application to remand him in custody has been submitted to the court. Searches have also been carried out in the apartments of Tonoyan and several other high-ranking military officials as part of the same case. The former Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan has also been questioned in relation to this case.

The media and social networks are actively discussing the names of potential next detainees, among which Onik Gasparyan is mentioned as a main contender.

“Factinfo” contacted Onik Gasparyan's lawyer to clarify whether Gasparyan has been summoned for questioning in relation to the criminal case being investigated by the NSS. In response, the lawyer stated that he does not have such information and that Gasparyan has not been questioned at this time.
