Ministry to Request Funds from Government to Settle State Order Debts

The Ministry of Health is set to request funds from the government during this week’s cabinet meeting to settle the debts of medical centers that have provided treatment under state orders. According to Hraparak.am, this time the ministry will ask for 1.223 billion drams from the state budget to cover the shortfall.

It is noteworthy that the ministry explains the early exhaustion of the funds for state-financed medical treatment and the remaining debts to medical organizations by the large number of applicants. Officials from the Ministry of Health confirmed that a request for the mentioned amount has been submitted to the government and is scheduled for approval during Thursday's meeting.

The head of the financial and economic department of the ministry, Hasmik Mnatsakanyan, told the media that the 1.223 billion drams is aimed at covering the overspent funds incurred while providing free medical assistance to socially vulnerable groups. "In total, there has been an overspend of 4.5 billion, with portions previously allocated; the remaining 1.2 billion is needed to fully execute the state orders within the comprehensive framework of the program," stated Ms. Mnatsakanyan.

She noted that of the 4.5 billion, 2 billion drams were allocated at the beginning of the year, as they had initially anticipated an overspend, while half of the 2.5 billion that remained has been recently received from the government. The final part is set to be confirmed during this meeting, allowing the state to settle its debts with the medical centers that have served or are expected to serve representatives of the socially vulnerable groups until the end of the year.

The ministry official also emphasized that this pertains exclusively to medical assistance provided to representatives of socially vulnerable groups under state orders and does not include other social groups such as soldiers, persons with disabilities, or pensioners.
