How Many Prisoners of War Are in Baku According to Official Data and Which Ones Are Not Reported: ECHR Representative
According to official data, there are 45 Armenian prisoners of war being held in Baku, which means that Azerbaijan admits to detaining 45 Armenian POWs to whom the country's authorities attribute crimes, attempting to delay their return process to their homeland. This was stated on September 27 by lawyer Siranush Sahakyan, who represents the interests of Armenian prisoners of war at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
“Based on the information we have, we can state that in addition to the 45 prisoners, another 80 Armenian POWs are being held in Azerbaijan. This is an accurate number. There is irrefutable evidence in the form of videos and photographs, and there are eyewitnesses who have personally seen the prisoners,” Sahakyan noted.
