Armenia Must Adopt a New Constitution: Aliyev's Latest Threat

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has stated that Armenia must develop and adopt a new constitution to regulate its relations with Turkey.

"The text of Armenia's Constitution contains references to territorial claims against Turkey. They must renounce this. They should first and foremost develop and adopt a new constitution. How can a weak and completely devastated country like Armenia make territorial claims against a powerful country like Turkey? That is akin to a mental disorder. Therefore, they must abandon it," Aliyev said in an interview with the Turkish Anadolu agency.

According to him, Yerevan must also abandon the demands presented to Azerbaijan. "They must regulate their relations with Azerbaijan, and I am confident that the Turkish side has always advocated for peace and large-scale cooperation in the region. This is also the case today. Very positive signals are coming from Turkey. But it is necessary that these are assessed correctly in Armenia... Armenia must rightly perceive the newly created reality, take steps that correspond to this reality, look at the map and find itself, if it can, and take new appropriate steps. In this case, large-scale cooperation in the region will be possible," emphasized Aliyev.
