Sasun Khachatryan Sues 'Zhoghovurd' Newspaper
The former head of the Special Investigation Service of Armenia and chairman of the Anti-Corruption Committee, Sasun Khachatryan, has filed a lawsuit against the 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper, demanding the retraction of defamatory information and the seizure of 2 million AMD.
According to NEWS.am, this information comes from the 'Datavex' judicial information system. Just two weeks ago, the 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper published an article titled 'Sasun Khachatryan Owns an Apartment in Moscow. He Signed His Indictment,' claiming that Sasun Khachatryan, the head of the Special Investigation Service, owns an apartment in Moscow and 'numerous apartments, cars, and other real estate' registered in the names of other individuals.
In response, the Special Investigation Service of Armenia issued a denial, accusing the media outlet of defamation and spreading misinformation. They also indicated that a lawsuit would be filed if the newspaper did not retract the mentioned information.
The lawsuit against the media outlet was submitted to the court yesterday, demanding a public retraction of the defamatory information and compensation for the damage caused to his honor and dignity.
Sasun Khachatryan plans to donate the 2 million AMD requested as compensation to a rehabilitation center for soldiers who were injured and became disabled as a result of the war.
