No One Has the Right to Arbitrarily Use Our National Wealth, the Forests: Petrosyan

No one has the right to arbitrarily use our national wealth, the forests. This was stated by the Minister of Environment of Armenia, Romanos Petrosyan, on his Facebook page.

“The strict struggle against forest theft continues; new discoveries in the ‘Dilijan’ National Park. During a recent inspection, the inspectors of the ‘Dilijan’ National Park discovered a new case of illegal logging in the 8th section of the Haghartsin area: 2 burned fallen trees and 1 burned standing tree.

The signature of forest violations is known: they topple the trees by manipulation, burn them to obscure traces of the logging period, and then remove the cut trees as windfall from the forest.

The forest ranger and inspectors documented the case on-site and prepared a report, which has been sent to the Tavush regional division of the Police of the Republic of Armenia and the regional division of the Environmental and Mining Inspectorate.

Our relentless fight to protect environmental interests continues. We will never back down. No one has the right to arbitrarily use our national wealth, the forests, for their own narrow personal interests.”
