Mamijanyan Refuses to Attend PACE Plenary Session: Explains Why

Member of the 'Civil Contract' faction, Hayk Mamijanyan, announces on his Facebook page: 'I have just learned that judge Anna Danibekyan has rejected the application of Armenian National Assembly deputy Armen Gevorgyan and effectively obstructed the participation of a member of the National Assembly delegation to the PACE plenary session. In solidarity with my colleague, I declare that I also refuse to go to Strasbourg. Considering the fact that the defense of our country's interests in international platforms is above the petty political games of the government, I will participate in the PACE plenary session online.'

He continues: 'Let me remind you that this is not the first time; on two occasions already, no opposition deputies have been included in the composition of the National Assembly delegations heading to the Russian Federation for the same reasons. We will always find a way to defend the national agenda and state interests abroad — we will not rely on your leader's toothless speech at the UN General Assembly to defend the homeland.'
