Details Emerge on Allegations Against Perm Region Head of Russia's Investigative Committee Who Committed Suicide

Sergey Sarapultsev, the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia's Perm region, has committed suicide. He took this drastic step after returning from a meeting where the investigation into a shooting incident at Perm State University was discussed.

The colonel was reportedly accused of poor organization of the investigation and slow responses to public complaints. This was reported by 1lurer.am, citing informed sources from URA.RU.

According to them, the President of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, had promised to remove the colonel from his position and conduct an investigation into negligence, after which a criminal case would be initiated.

Procedural checks have begun at the central office of the Investigative Committee regarding the death of the Perm region head. According to Коммерсантъ, the colonel left a note asking for forgiveness for the “sins he committed and did not commit.”

Sergey Sarapultsev graduated from Perm State University, where shooter Timur Bekmansurov had opened fire, killing five people.
