VIDEO: NSS Mockery – Takhuhy Tovmasyan on Citizens' Confusion
As much as they try to turn a blind eye to everything or make it seem like a normal occurrence, life in border villages continues to be unsafe. This was stated by Takhuhy Tovmasyan, a member of the "Honorary Name" faction and head of the Standing Committee on Human Rights and Public Affairs, during a briefing with journalists in the National Assembly.
"People simply want a safe environment, which we do not have. Besides gunfire, in several communities of Gegharkunik Province, we have observed that the enemy has burned tires and rolled them toward us, resulting in the burning of hayfields. It turns out that people do not have livestock because the enemy has stolen them, and now they also have no hay. There is no compensation for this; I have sent numerous letters and raised this issue, asked Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan about it, but I have not received any direct response," the MP said.
Tovmasyan noted that ensuring an alternative route on the Goris-Kapan interstate road is a sensitive issue, as it is unclear under what international legal framework or perhaps based on verbal agreements the Azerbaijani armed forces have established control over that section.
