Our Hospitals Continue to Admit a Large Number of Pregnant Women with Pneumonia, We Recorded Deaths: Avanesyan

The vaccinations against coronavirus cannot affect an individual's reproductive health. "At this moment, there is no scientifically established fact that vaccinations, particularly against the coronavirus, impact human reproductive health," stated Armenia's Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan in the National Assembly.

She noted that in many countries, pregnant women are being actively vaccinated and that she has read that the antibodies created by the vaccine also pass to the child, forming an immunological layer.

"Pregnant women are getting vaccinated because the 'Delta' variant has added a unique feature. Previously, we observed mild cases in pregnant women; unfortunately, that trend is not being maintained. Today, our hospitals continue to admit a considerable number of pregnant women who have pneumonia, and we have recorded deaths," said the minister.

According to Avanesyan, as of today, 244,374 citizens in Armenia have received the first dose of the vaccine, and 133,031 have received the second dose.
