Erdogan Announces Pashinyan Has Made Meeting Proposal Through Georgian PM
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has conveyed a proposal for a meeting through the Prime Minister of Georgia. This was reported by Ermenihaber.am.
This statement was made by the Turkish president during a press conference held before his trip to the United States. A reporter asked President Erdogan for his opinion on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s statement that 'Armenia will not allow a corridor to be created.'
In response, Erdogan noted that the issue of whether to open or close the corridor is a political matter. According to Erdogan, it is noteworthy that, on one hand, the Armenian Prime Minister is saying this, while on the other hand, he wants to meet with the President of Turkey.
'If he wants to meet with Tayyip Erdogan, then known steps should be taken. We are not closed to negotiations,' Erdogan stated, revealing that the proposal for a meeting from the Armenian Prime Minister was conveyed to him by the Georgian Prime Minister.
Erdogan emphasized that the Armenian side must demonstrate a positive approach when starting such negotiations. He said that if the proposal for dialogue conveyed to them is genuine, Turkey will also show its sincerity and begin diplomacy, which implies that some things must be taken and given.
Erdogan expressed hope that this issue between Azerbaijan and Armenia will be resolved by the opening of the 'corridor.'
