After Notable Scandal, ORSIS Resumes Arms Sales to Armenia
The Russian arms manufacturer ORSIS has resumed cooperation with the Armenian Ministry of Defense after a scandal surrounding the collapse of a previous tender.
“Currently, a number of pre-contract negotiations are ongoing with Yerevan. We can say that ORSIS has opened a new positive chapter in its cooperation with the Armenian side,” said Maksim Baymetov, the chief designer of the company, to RIA Novosti.
He noted that at the "Army-2021" exhibition, ORSIS leadership met with the Armenian defense ministry delegation headed by the new Defense Minister Arshak Karapetyan. “Our partners have shown great interest in the entire range of weapons produced by ORSIS, including advanced models,” he stated.
This was reported by Russian media, adding that in 2019, ORSIS was included in the “black list” of arms suppliers to Armenian law enforcement agencies when a multi-million dollar military equipment supply tender was disrupted.
