‘Serzh Sargsyan Did Not Arrive in Karlsruhe on April 5, Did Not Spend the Night in Baden-Baden,’ Lawyer Presents Evidence

Amram Makinyan, the lawyer of former President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, wrote on his Facebook page: “As I promised, we will address one by one the apparent intentional falsehoods being spread about the third President of Armenia and Artsakh hero Serzh Sargsyan, ensuring that nothing goes unanswered. In the same context, regarding the obviously directed rumor that the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, allegedly traveled to Baden-Baden on April 5, 2016, before his official visit to Berlin scheduled for April 6, I state that this is yet another example of directed, absolute defamatory misinformation.”

“The entire timeline of the aforementioned official visit of the President is precisely documented in competent authorities, including in the archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and the State Protocol Service. As for the information provided by the Civil Aviation, it is either intentionally misleading or incorrectly reported due to negligence; it does not reflect the actual itinerary of Serzh Sargsyan’s official visit to Germany on April 5, 2016. Furthermore, President Sargsyan's trip to Germany began on the evening of April 5 with his arrival at the military section of Berlin Airport. This fact is corroborated by not only the official program but can also be confirmed by other members of the delegation and journalists who accompanied the President during the visit.”

“Therefore, Serzh Sargsyan did not arrive in Karlsruhe on April 5, and did not spend the night in Baden-Baden, and this is an indisputable fact. Hence, it would be prudent for media outlets to ensure the availability of qualified legal counsel to clarify the degree of involvement of relevant lawyers before disseminating unfounded information. Moreover, I urge the media not to spread obviously defamatory information, otherwise, I will be compelled to seek legal remedies provided by legislation.”
