Nazaryan Reflects on Emotional Struggles After Questioning Government
In a recent article, Gegham Nazaryan, a member of the Armenian Parliament from the 'Hayastan' faction, discussed the emotional turmoil he faced after addressing the absence of a state body dealing with missing soldiers at a parliamentary session. He confronted a strange wave of criticism following the question he posed to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Nazaryan remarked, "Some say I shouldn’t have directed a question to Nikol Pashinyan. Let me clarify: I did not direct a question to him, he chose to respond to my inquiry. Now I ask, why shouldn’t the matter of the government not forming a suitable body for dealing with missing soldiers be publicly raised? Why not?" He voiced frustration over the lack of action taken by the government during this dire humanitarian crisis.
Post-questioning, Nazaryan expressed feeling deep emotional distress, stating, "I don’t completely understand the reason at first. Initially, I thought maybe I shouldn’t have asked the government at all, but after the reactions, I realized I acted correctly; however, the reason for my emotional state was something entirely different." He emphasized the difficulty of discussing issues related to the heroic soldiers and their grieving parents with those he holds responsible for the tragic circumstances.
Nazaryan also criticized the ease with which online commentators attacked him for merely questioning the government. He highlighted the pain and challenges faced by families of fallen soldiers and emphasized, "It’s easy to criticize from the comfort of one’s home, but it lacks moral ground, especially when those comments come from individuals who seem to evade the realities of military service and sacrifice."
“I insist that the ruling regime and its leader bear responsibility for these tragedies. I assert that they must be held accountable, and all guilty parties should face a proper legal process,” he stated. Nazaryan underscored this commitment, referring to his pursuit of justice for fallen heroes and their families.
The article reflects a broader sentiment of frustration directed at government failures and the societal responsibilities regarding national service and honor. Nazaryan cautioned critics and those quick to dismiss his inquiries, urging them to contemplate their positions before casting judgments.
“I am resolved, alongside my peers and countless other parents like me, to ensure that the sacrifices of our beloved heroes are not forgotten and that justice prevails,” he concluded, emphasizing the need for action over mere words.
