Iran Considers Stepanakert Part of Armenia: New Hysteria in Azerbaijani Media
A new hysteria has emerged in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani media outlets are incensed by the fact that Iran, quite reasonably, considers Stepanakert to be part of Armenia. This was reported by infoteka24.
“In an official Iranian document, ‘Khankend’ is mentioned as a city of Armenia. Despite denials from Iranian authorities, two trucks with Iranian license plates, which were transporting goods to Khankend without official permission from Azerbaijan, were seized. In the signed document, Khankend is listed as Stepanakert and a city of Armenia,” noted the Azerbaijani media source.
It is worth recalling that on September 15, near the village of Vorotan, at an illegally installed police checkpoint on the Goris-Kapan road segment, Azerbaijani police detained the drivers of two Iranian trucks. Most likely, this document was confiscated from one of these drivers.
