Initially Only 20 Azerbaijanis Were Present, Now Their Number Reaches 80: Situation on Goris-Kapan Road

During an interview on AD TV, former Goris deputy mayor and member of the Arush Arushanyan alliance, Irina Yolyan, stated that they have received information indicating that three Armenian vehicles have been stopped and checked at an Azerbaijani police post near Vorotani.

She remarked that these developments were expected since Azerbaijani individuals had previously thrown stones and shown threatening signs to passing motorists, warning that such actions would have consequences and developments.

Yolyan noted that while at first the police post had only 20 Azerbaijanis, their number has now risen to 80, and there is no guarantee that their numbers will not increase further. Furthermore, employees from three different Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies are involved at this location.

She highlighted that six surveillance cameras are installed along the road, and four are at their police post. In addition, Azerbaijanis are gathering personal data from Armenian and Iranian passengers and drivers traveling along this route, which could lead to dangerous consequences.

Yolyan believes that if the mayors of Syunik were not in custody, they would actively oppose the encroachments carried out by Azerbaijanis, and this situation might not have arisen.
