Concerns Raised Over Judges Relying on You for Verdicts: Tovmasyan to Jhangiryan
Member of the "I Have Honor" faction, Takhouhi Tovmasyan, addressed the head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Gagik Jhangiryan, asking:
“I want to inquire about the concerning information circulating regarding your activities. It has been suggested that you have turned the judicial power into a personal asset and that judges have started to issue verdicts based on consultations with you, which is unacceptable.”
“The Supreme Judicial Council is the highest body of judicial authority, and therefore I will refrain from any political evaluations, but you have made specific allegations. The Council is a collegial body composed of 10 members, of whom 5 are judges and 5 are lawyers, and the president of the Council does not have any separate authority. The Council does not possess any procedural functions,” Jhangiryan stated.
