Police Use Tear Gas and Water Cannons During Protest in Paris

Lilit A.

During a protest against "health passports" in Paris, participants threw bottles and firecrackers at the police. The police responded by deploying tear gas and water cannons.

For nine consecutive weeks, people have taken to the streets to protest the government's actions. In July, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that new restrictions would be implemented to combat the coronavirus.

Since early August, "health passports" have become mandatory for entry to cafes, restaurants, large shopping centers, and for air and train travel. This document must indicate that a person has been vaccinated against the coronavirus or that they have a negative test result for the virus.
