Three Years After Wiretapping Incident, No Accused, No Suspects, and No Wanted Persons
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that on September 11, 2018, a scandalous wiretapping recording involving the Director of the National Security Service Arthur Vanetsyan and the Head of the Special Investigation Service Sasun Khachatryan was published. Three years have passed since that tumultuous day; what do we have regarding the wiretapping case involving the former head of the NSS, the head of the SIS, and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan?
"Zhoghovurd" has learned that numerous expert examinations were appointed during these three years, operational and investigative activities were carried out, and applications were sent to international organizations. However, the Investigative Committee of Armenia has still not revealed the case, classifying it among unsolved cases. Three years later, there is neither an accused, nor a suspect, nor a wanted person in the criminal case. This means that investigators have not been able to identify the individual who wiretapped their leader, raising questions not only about the abilities of Armenian investigators but also about the capabilities of the local law enforcement system.
But this is not all. Three years ago, on this very day, the Head of the SIS, Sasun Khachatryan, made a series of revelations during an urgent press conference regarding various issues, including the events of March 1. He stated, "Tigran Abgaryan was killed by special forces. We have clear evidence for this. This indicates what? Tigran Abgaryan was killed when Kocharian had already declared a state of emergency, but no serviceman had suffered a gunshot wound. Tigran Abgaryan was shot so that Robert Kocharian’s claim of having casualties be substantiated. This has already been confirmed in the preliminary investigation. This news was enough for a genuine hunt to begin against us."
Three years have passed since those words, the SIS has remained silent, and it has still not been proven who killed Tigran Abgaryan, or who has been specifically charged with that act. Essentially, Sasun Khachatryan's statements were unfounded, and judging by his announcement, he attempted to indicate that his agency had made significant revelations, whereas it was merely a manifestation of highlighting its own "self" and a bubble left floating in the air.
