Graves Discovered During Construction Work in Vanadzor (Photos)

During construction work in the Khndzorut neighborhood of Vanadzor, graves have been discovered, from which ceramics, including 5 bowls and jars, as well as bones of large horned animals, were recovered. This information was reported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport.

According to Meline Simonian, the coordinator of archaeological work and an archaeologist at the Scientific Research Center of Cultural Heritage, the finds are samples of the late Bronze Age or early Iron Age cultures that still require proper processing. It has been determined through zooarchaeological studies that the bones of large horned animals belong to a bull, including one limb bone and two fragments of the jaw. Complete fragments of human bones were also found.

The finds have been transported to the laboratory of the Scientific Research Center of Cultural Heritage for study, restoration, and conservation, after which they will be handed over to the Lori-Pambak Geology Museum.

Furthermore, the ongoing construction work will now be conducted under the supervision of ministry specialists, and if necessary, complete excavations will be carried out in the discovered graves.
