Avašar's Araik is Being Neutralized: ‘Zhoghvoroud’
‘Zhoghvoroud’ newspaper reports: ‘Details have emerged regarding the resignation of Ararat regional governor Razmik Teyvonyan yesterday. The unexpectedly resigning Teyvonyan, who was appointed as governor back in December 2020, is preparing to participate in the upcoming local self-government elections in the city of Ararat.
In the soon-to-be enlarged Ararat community, which will also include the village of Avašar, the authorities aim to present a strong and capable candidate. It is known that for several decades, Avašar village has been under the ‘control’ of Araik Grigoryan (Avašar’s Araik), and the authorities intend to take the village from the Grigoryan brothers and reinstate it under their control.
This is the reason why the active and well-acquainted Razmik Teyvonyan, who knows how to achieve the desired outcome in the region, has submitted his resignation. What is expected in the upcoming elections is hard to predict, but historically, the Grigoryans have consistently won elections, and Teyvonyan must secure more votes than them. His son, Sedrak Teyvonyan, attributed his father’s resignation solely to old age.
