Video: Prisoners Given 10 Seconds to Eat, Food Then Thrown in Trash – Tatoyan's Speech on Torture of Detainees
Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan has published a segment from a press conference held yesterday on his Facebook page, where he presents the conditions and suffering endured by Armenian prisoners and war detainees held in Azerbaijan.
“Armenian prisoners, both military personnel and civilians, have been subjected to systematic torture. There have been numerous cases where individuals were deprived of water or food. Water and food were provided exclusively after humiliations or brutal beatings. For example, there have been cases where food was thrown on the ground, and they were forced to eat from the ground, then kept in a starving condition while that food was thrown in the trash.
There were instances where only 10 seconds were given for eating, after which, regardless of whether they had enough time to eat or not, it was taken and thrown in the trash. They spat in the food and forced them to eat it. All of this is corroborated by concrete evidence and a high-veracity analysis presented in the special urgent report of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia. Descriptions of several cases of brutality are included in my main speech,” Tatoyan wrote.
