Another 11 Lives Lost to Hurricane Ida in the U.S.

The death toll from Hurricane Ida in Louisiana has now reached 26, according to a statement from the state’s Department of Health.

“Following the storm’s landfall and the conclusion of several investigations, the office of the New Orleans heir has confirmed an additional 11 deaths related to the storm. Thus, the total number of fatalities due to Hurricane Ida has risen to 26,” the statement read.

Hurricane Ida, which was downgraded from a Category 5 to a Category 4 storm, struck Louisiana on August 28 with devastating effects from the Gulf of Mexico. It caused heavy rainfall and flooding in the northeastern parts of the state.
