VIDEO: We are ready to discuss reopening the railway and roads with Turkey, says Pashinyan

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, addressed the recent statements made by the President of Turkey regarding the normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey during a government meeting.

“The President of Turkey has publicly commented on the issue of relations with Armenia. In those statements, we see an opportunity to discuss the normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations, as well as the re-launch of the Armenia-Turkey railway and roads. We are ready for such a conversation, which, against the backdrop of the aforementioned, could gain a broader context. Ultimately, we are talking about making our region a crossroads connecting the East to the West and the North to the South,” said Pashinyan.

He expressed happiness that the Russian Federation has publicly shown its readiness to actively support this process. The European Union, France, and the United States are also interested in this initiative, while the interest of China and India in the development of communication projects is well known,” he added.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the peace and stability of the region is a long-term strategy for the Armenian government. “We consider ourselves responsible for solving this issue. Peace, stability, and cooperation are easy to declare as desirable goals, but their realization requires reasonable, thoughtful, and pragmatic efforts, and Armenia is ready to make such efforts,” Pashinyan noted.
