Minister Dies Attempting to Save Renowned Director Alexander Melnik; Both Perish

The Russian Minister of Emergency Situations, Evgeny Zinichev, has tragically died while attempting to save the renowned director Alexander Melnik. This was reported by the ministry's press service.

“Alexander Melnik was present at the site of inter-agency exercises being conducted in the zone of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. The director traveled to Norilsk to choose a location for his new documentary film dedicated to the development of the Arctic and the Northern Sea Route,” the agency stated.

It is worth reminding that Evgeny Zinichev, head of the Russian Federation's Ministry of Emergency Situations, lost his life while performing his official duties, trying to save another person's life.

In August, he turned 55 years old. He had been leading the emergency services since 2018. The unfortunate incident occurred during inter-agency exercises in the arctic zone aimed at protecting against emergencies in Norilsk.
