Pharmaceutical Expert: Pashinyan Confirms Commitment to Turkey’s Main Preconditions and Providing Corridor to Azerbaijan
Pharmaceutical expert Varuzhan Geghamyan has referenced Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statements during today's government meeting regarding the normalization of relations with Turkey.
“A week ago, Turkish President Erdogan laid out the humiliating and state-destroying preconditions that Armenia must fulfill in exchange for the establishment of Armenia-Turkey relations. I had addressed the details earlier. Today, the leader of Armenia's de facto pro-Turkish government positively characterized Erdogan's words during the government meeting, claiming that he sees in them an opportunity to 'normalize relations and discuss the reactivation of Armenian-Turkish railways and roads.' I hasten to say that the Turkish side has neither discussed the activation of the Armenian-Turkish railway nor sees the necessity to do so. Turkey is constructing a new railway that will connect to the southern Nakhchivan railway, extending through the Syunik corridor to Azerbaijan (the new route is visible in the attached map).
Moreover, the capitulator reiterated today his assertion that he will meet Turkey's main precondition—providing a Turkish corridor to Azerbaijan: 'Here, we are determined to make efforts for concrete outcomes, understanding, of course, that Azerbaijan is also anticipating communication between its western regions and Nakhchivan.'
Recognizing that the term 'corridor' sounds negative, the de facto authorities of Armenia have chosen to simply refer to this route as 'direct communication.' This is akin to the play on words between 'oligarch' and 'major owner.'
Accordingly, the government's trajectory is clear: Armenia is set to become a semi-state dependent on Turkey or, in Turkish terms, a 'cultural autonomy.' And it will become this if everything is not halted.
