Lena Nazaryan's Misstep at the National Assembly Podium
The newspaper "Zhoghavorud" reports: During the first sessions of the 8th convocation of the National Assembly, member of the "Civil Contract" faction, Lena Nazaryan, aimed to demonstrate that the government is waging a relentless and intolerant fight against all types of corrupt officials. From the podium of the National Assembly, she declared: "Our former Deputy Minister Arsen Davtyan was sentenced to 7 years in prison for receiving a bribe of 1.5 million drams. Seven years is too little, I would say it is a lot, but the law applies equally to both the opposition and the ruling party."
It turns out that the government representative is unaware that the measure of restraint for the former Minister of Health has been changed to bail during the preliminary investigation stage. Davtyan’s lawyers had submitted a request for bail of 15 million drams, which the court approved. "Yes, Davtyan's measure of restraint has indeed been changed during the preliminary investigation phase, and the judicial act has been appealed in the Court of Appeal," said Davtyan's lawyer, Yerem Davtyan, in an interview with "Zhoghavorud."
The newspaper has learned that the former Deputy Minister, whose bribery case the authorities often use as an example to boast of their intolerance towards their own allies, started working at the "Armenia" medical center immediately after paying the bail. He has been appointed as a financial advisor to the director of the medical center. "We haven't seen him in the hospital lately, but he constantly comes and goes," said representatives from the "Armenia" Medical Center.
Incidentally, just recently, on September 2, on the day of the Republic of Artsakh, Davtyan was awarded a medal of honor from the Ministry of Defense along with other healthcare workers who 'saved the lives of many soldiers and volunteers during the war'—an award for honorable corruption.
