Erdogan Prepares His Son-in-Law Selçuk Bayraktar for Presidency
Turkish media are circulating reports that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is preparing his younger son-in-law, Selçuk Bayraktar, for the leadership of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Turkish presidency. It is emphasized that Erdogan initially hoped to rely on his elder son-in-law, former Minister of Finance Berat Albayrak, but those expectations have not materialized, leading to disappointment.
This was reported by Ermenihaber. Turkish analyst Ahmet Nesin writes in his article, 'Will Selçuk Bayraktar Come to Lead the AKP?' that, 'Have you noticed that since Berat Albayrak's resignation, there has been continuous talk across all channels over the past months about the younger son-in-law Selçuk Bayraktar? Descriptions are circulating about him such as “He is producing drones,” “We are selling them worldwide,” and “Turkey is developing, new heroes are emerging.”'
By profession an engineer, Selçuk Bayraktar is the Chief Technology Officer of the Turkish technology company 'Baykar Makina,' which produces unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and he also serves as the chairman of the board. Months ago, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev awarded him the 'Karabakh Medal' for producing 'Bayraktar' strike UAVs and playing a pivotal role in the second war in Karabakh.
