VIDEO: Yerevan Municipality Has Other Responsibilities Aside From Releasing Show Videos, Says Keyan

“In my opinion, the Yerevan Municipality has other responsibilities besides releasing show videos. For centuries, drivers have complained about the basic safety standards not being followed by road constructors. 

Note: I captured this today on Tichina Street,” wrote Tigran Keyan, head of the NGO “Driver's Friend,” on his Facebook page, along with a photo.

In response to Keyan, the press secretary of the Yerevan Mayor, Hakob Karapetyan, commented on the Facebook post, stating: “Dear Tigran, what is happening in the photo is not related to the municipality's programs; I don’t know what the work is. In any case, thank you for the information, I will pass it on, and fines will be applied for inadequate furnishing,” he wrote.

It should be noted that Auroranews recently addressed a topic reported by citizens regarding an open inspection chamber on Papazyan Street in the Arabkir administrative district, which remains open to this day.

Citizens have mentioned that due to the inaction of the Yerevan Municipality and the “Veolia Water” company, the inspection chamber has not been restored, and the area has not even been delineated. As a result, vehicles, especially in the evening, are damaged when falling into the chamber, creating a hazardous situation.

A similarly interesting video was also released recently, when a citizen, during the evening hours when visibility issues arise for drivers, showcased a gigantic open hole at the edge of Bagrevand Street without any warning signs or road furnishings.

Auroranews has reported and warned the Yerevan Municipality regarding these and all mentioned cases; however, not all of our calls have been effective. As can be noticed from the ongoing calls from citizens, there are problems that remain unanswered and unaddressed.
