Former Commander of Artsakh Defense Army: The War Could Have Ended in Fizuli and Jabrail Instead of Shushi - Hasratyan
Recently, during a meeting attended by a former commander of the Artsakh Defense Army (ADA), we discussed the 44-day war. This was reported by Senor Hasratyan, the former press secretary of the ADA, on his Facebook page.
“– Mr. General, do you think it was possible to achieve a different outcome in this war?” I asked him.
“To be honest, this was indeed a different war, marked by unexpected and incomprehensible developments. But it is undoubtedly true that we could have avoided the severe and humiliating consequences we faced,” he replied.
“So, it was possible to finish the war not in Shushi, but at worst, on the approaches of Fizuli and Jabrail, without surrendering those strategic strongholds. And to talk about Hadrut and the other territories is pointless.”
After saying this, I felt that the general did not want to continue the topic, but shortly after, as if compelled by an internal urge, he said, “I am also convinced of what kind of treasonous labels would have been assigned to us if we had concluded the war even with the results I presented.”
