Belarusians Attempt to Illegally Cross into Poland: 10,000 Migrants Have Tried to Enter the EU
In recent days, Poland's border guard agency has reported an increase in illegal crossing attempts from Belarus. According to border guard data, more than 10,000 people hope to enter the EU. This information was reported by Deutsche Welle.
On September 6, Poland's border guard chief, General Tomasz Praga, announced that there has been a surge in the number of illegal crossing attempts at the Polish-Belarusian border, as reported by Polish Radio.
On September 4, the border guard stopped 215 individuals from illegally crossing the border, on September 5, it prevented another 152, and on the morning of September 6, 59 more attempts were thwarted.
Praga added that international organizations are involved in criminal schemes attempting to transport migrants from Asia and Africa to Western Europe. “Many say they intended to go to a brother, sister, or relative and were unaware they crossed the Polish border,” he stated in the report.
Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland accuse Minsk of orchestrating the transportation of refugees to the EU's external borders. All three countries have declared a state of emergency along their borders with Belarus.
