Barcelona Seeks to Acquire Neymar

The president of Spanish club Barcelona, Joan Laporta, has stated that the club is attempting to acquire Neymar from French side Paris Saint-Germain.

Neymar played for Barcelona from 2013 to 2017 before moving to PSG for a record transfer fee of 222 million euros. The summer transfer window for the current season closed on August 31.

“We tried to negotiate a deal for Neymar. And he wanted to come. We had a different interpretation of the financial fair play rules; had we understood them correctly, we wouldn’t have even made an offer,” Laporta's remarks were quoted by Marca.

Laporta also mentioned that the Super League football project is not closed. “The project exists. We have won in all courts. UEFA cannot stop us. Moreover, the pressure exerted on English clubs had no impact,” said the president of Barcelona.
