Azerbaijani Forces Fire at Armenian Positions and Civilian Settlements in Karmin Shuka-Taghavard
On September 6, around 19:30, Azerbaijani forces opened fire from positions located in the vicinity of the Armenian settlements of Karmin Shuka and Taghavard in the Martuni region of the Republic of Artsakh, reported Gegham Stepanyan, the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh, on his Facebook page.
“As a result of the gunfire, a house belonging to one of the residents of Taghavard was damaged. Three bullets hit the wall of the house, and one bullet struck a window in one of the bedrooms. Six civilians reside in the house affected by the Azerbaijani fire, one of whom is a minor child,” he stated.
After midnight, Azerbaijani forces continued their gunfire, but there were no reported injuries or material damage from these subsequent shots. Russian peacekeepers and law enforcement agencies of Artsakh have been informed about the incident.
The Azerbaijani positions located near civilian settlements pose an immediate and real threat to the lives, health, and other fundamental rights of the people of Artsakh, disrupting the normal life and activities of the population in those areas. The Azerbaijani side, particularly those responsible for the incidents, face no accountability for the documented cases, which creates a basis for the recurrence of such incidents. A comprehensive investigation into all ceasefire violations, including the involvement of Russian peacekeepers, is critically on the agenda,” he added.
