Vinegrowers from Ujan Block Yerevan-Ashtarak Highway
This year has not been favorable for grape collection. There is an abundance of grapes, but businesses are refusing to process them. Grape growers from the Ujan community in the Aragatsotn region have blocked the Yerevan-Ashtarak highway. They are demanding solutions to their problems from the relevant authorities. This was reported by pastinfo.am.
“When Pashinyan says they have transferred 4 billion, it either turns out to be a bubble, or through acquaintances, or I don’t know what else. Today, the grapes are accepted at 115 drams. Half of the grape processing plants refuse to accept grapes, claiming their storages are full from last year, and they have no means to accept even one kilogram of grapes. The processing point in Proshyan has opened, and within two days, there are 100 cars in line. There is a specific clause in the contract stating that if they do not meet the required quality, there will be a price reduction, meaning that it is not possible today that one bottle of ordinary water costs more than the grapes, and now they are talking about price reductions. They might say it’s 60 drams; you empty it, you empty it, but you know,” noted one of the protesting vinegrowers, adding that they have been informed that the funds will be available after 270 days.
“We have children to support, taxes to pay; how do we survive? They say they are building 300 kindergartens. You need to have children to fill the kindergarten! There are no children left; they took the parent away,” said one of the protesters from Ujan.
