Elderly Man Kills Woman by Electrocution with Electrical Wires in Yerevan
On September 5, a homicide occurred in Yerevan. At around 11:40 AM, the Yerevan emergency medical services received a call from the 5th substation indicating that ambulance team number 55 had responded to an address on Nelson Stepanyan Street, where a woman's body was discovered in an apartment.
According to shamshyan.com, law enforcement officials determined that the deceased was 89-year-old Yevgenia Y., a resident of the specified address. A forensic doctor on-site reported that Yevgenia Y. died as a result of electrocution.
While the forensic expert was examining the body, officers from the criminal investigation department of the Yerevan Police discovered and detained 84-year-old A. Kalantaryan, a resident of the same address, on suspicion of murdering Yevgenia Y.
Kalantaryan is suspected of using electrical wires to bind the woman’s fingers and electrocute her. The electric wires used in the crime were found at the scene and seized by the investigator. The emergency medical team subsequently transported A. Kalantaryan to Armenia Medical Center.
A criminal case has been initiated by the investigative department of the Avan and Nor Nork administrative districts regarding this incident.
