Grape Growers in Ararat Again Block the Road
During the recent government session, Deputy Prime Minister Suren Papikyan announced that there will no longer be cases where grape growers block the road without justification.
Photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan reports that today, in the administrative territory of the Little Vedi area on the Yerevan-Yeraskh highway, several villagers have again blocked the road in protest regarding the collection of grapes.
A significant number of police officers have arrived at the scene, led by the head of the Ararat regional police department, Grisha Amirkhanyan. Also present were members of the Road Police’s 2nd battalion, 1st company, led by company commander Grigor Poghosyan and platoon commander Karapet Harutyunyan.
The grape growers are demanding a meeting with the regional governor and a government representative.
