Two Arrested in Supermarket Vandalism Case

Two individuals have been arrested in connection with vandalism that occurred in a supermarket. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

On September 2, 2021, at approximately 11:00 AM, a report was received at the Nor Nork police department regarding an incident that took place in a supermarket on Gayi Avenue in Yerevan. The owner of the supermarket, his son, and four other individuals physically attacked a citizen, inflicting bodily injuries and causing physical pain.

Investigative measures revealed that the aforementioned individuals, driven by the impulse to assert an apparent superiority in a public space, assaulted the citizen and caused bodily harm.

On September 2, a criminal case was initiated at the Nor Nork police department under point 1 of part 3 of article 258 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. On the same day, the son of the supermarket owner was arrested.

On September 3, the criminal case was handed over to the Investigative Department of the Avan and Nor Nork administrative districts of the Yerevan city investigative administration, where it was put under investigation. On the same day, the owner of the supermarket was also arrested.

A number of investigative and procedural actions have been conducted, including the seizure of footage from the supermarket's surveillance cameras, examination of the videos provided by the injured citizen to the investigative authorities, and the appointment of a forensic medical examination. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
