Treasure Hunters Desecrate Tomb Near 7th Century Church

An incident of violation has been reported in the community of Zoravan in the Kotayk province, near the 7th century church of Zoravar (Saint Theodoros). The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia has reported this.

An unknown individual or individuals have dug two holes for treasure hunting purposes (50-60 cm deep, 1 meter in diameter) in the cemetery located approximately 200 meters away from the church and tomb.

The agency will file a complaint with the police regarding this matter.

Note: A similar incident was recorded last year in the cemetery area.
