The newspaper "Hraparak" reports: "Despite the parliamentary elections being in the past, the authorities continue their purge against rebellious mayors. The next target appears to be Hakob Avetyan, the well-known mayor of Geghamasar in Gegharkunik. The authorities plan to merge the already consolidated Geghamasar community again with the city of Vardenis, even though Geghamasar comprises 18 communities.

Hakob Avetyan, it should be noted, supported the 'Armenia' alliance during the elections and led the alliance's territorial office. There is one year left in his term, prompting questions about why the authorities are in such a hurry. People in Geghamasar are engaged in anxious discussions and are asking, 'Is our region facing a fate similar to that of Syunik?'
