Need to Strengthen International Pressure to Ensure the Return of Prisoners of War: Andreasyan Meets with ICRC Delegation
The return of Armenian prisoners of war held in Azerbaijan requires strong support from international partners and an increase in international pressure. This emphasis was made today by the Minister of Justice of Armenia, Karen Andreasyan, during a meeting with Thierry Ribault, the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Armenia.
The Minister highly valued the ICRC’s mission during and after the 44-day war unleashed by Azerbaijan, particularly regarding the visits to Armenian military captives and civilians held in Azerbaijan and ensuring their connection with family members.
He also expressed concern over reports of torture and inhumane and degrading treatment of Armenian prisoners and hostages in Azerbaijan.
The head of the ICRC delegation presented the organization’s activities carried out in the post-war period and addressed other issues of mutual interest.
