VIDEO: The Ministry of Emergency Situations Sends Firefighting Unit to the Area Near Lake Sevan to Prevent Fire Spread

Today, information was shared on Telegram channels indicating that Azerbaijanis have set fire to grassy areas near Lake Sevan, and they are currently unable to extinguish the blaze. The fire has spread not on the Armenian side, but on the Azerbaijani side. A video has also circulated showing the burning of grassy sections from one of the heights near Lake Sevan.

As previously mentioned, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) confirmed in a conversation with Auroranews that reports of the fire spreading to the Armenian side were denied. The MES press spokesperson Anna Baghdasaryan stated that the fire is located in Azerbaijan. During the conversation with Auroranews, they reiterated that there is indeed a fire in that area, but it is on Azerbaijani territory. "In the Armenian territory towards Khuznavar, the fire has not spread. A combat unit has been dispatched from the MES to prevent the fire from crossing over to our side," they said.

Earlier, Auroranews contacted the Governor of Syunik Province, Melikset Poghosyan, to verify the information. He noted that he is in Kajaran and does not possess any such information; he has not been briefed about this matter.

It should be noted that in recent days, Azerbaijani servicemen have been deliberately setting fires to pastures located near the villages of Sotk and Kut in Gegharkunik.
