Details Emerge on the Controversial Visit of the Ruling "Civil Contract" Faction MPs to Artsakh

A group of MPs from Armenia's ruling "Civil Contract" faction faced an attack in Stepanakert during their visit to Artsakh, according to Hraparak.am.

The delegation included Deputy Speaker Ruben Rubinyan and MPs Haik Konjoryan, Andranik Kocharyan, Rustam Bakoyan, and Vladimir Vardanyan. Parents of fallen servicemen stormed into the "Armenia" hotel, attacking the MPs and claiming that they were responsible for the loss of their children. "They have no right to set foot in Artsakh," the parents declared.

The parents learned about the MPs' planned visit to the Brothers' Cemetery, which caused outrage among them. The police intervened to prevent the escalation of the incident at the hotel. However, due to the situation, the MPs reportedly went to the cemetery separately from MPs of the "Armenia" and "I Have Honor" alliances and were escorted by bodyguards.

Davith Galstyan, head of the Justice faction in the Artsakh Parliament, told Hraparak.am that initially the Armenian MPs were supposed to visit the cemetery with their Artsakh counterparts at 11 a.m., but the time was changed to 10 a.m. after the incident. "I am not even aware if the Civil Contract MPs visited the cemeteries at all, nor do I know why their plans were altered," Galstyan noted.

Currently, Arthur Ghazinyan, Vahe Hakobyan, Armen Rustamyan, and Arthur Vanetsyan from the "Armenia" and "I Have Honor" alliance are in Artsakh. The delegation is in Stepanakert to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Artsakh's independence. It was previously announced that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was on vacation and Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan was out of the country, which would prevent their participation in the events. However, some experts consider these circumstances to be excuses.
