Photo: The Only First Grader in the Community

Arusyak Manavazyan, a member of the National Assembly of Armenia and the Civil Contract faction, wrote on her Facebook page: “Merin is the only first grader in the Artamet community of the Armavir region. On the occasion of Knowledge and Education Day, I visited her school. The girl is of Yezidi ethnicity. Her family raises livestock, and during the summer months, she goes to the mountains with them to tend to the animals. She has just come down from the mountains to attend school.

The newly built school is designed for 92 students, but today there are only 39 students learning in this community. They also need our attention and warmth. Once again, I congratulate everyone on the occasion of Knowledge and Education Day.”
