The Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian eliminated Azerbaijani Shahriyar Mamedyarov from the Aimchess US Rapid online tournament, advancing to the semifinals.

After a 3:1 victory on the first day of the quarterfinals, Aronian secured his victory over Mamedyarov with a score of 2:1 on the second day (1 win, 2 draws).
