Russia is Armenia's Military-Political Ally and Main Economic Partner, Mirzoyan Says in Meeting with Lavrov
Armenia is ready to deepen strategic relations with Russia, which remains Yerevan's key military-political ally and economic partner. This was stated today in Moscow by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
“This is my first foreign visit as Armenia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, and it's no surprise, as Russia is Armenia's military-political ally and primary economic partner. In this regard, I would like to reaffirm the Armenian side's readiness to continue building relations with the Russian Federation based on the 1997 ‘Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance’ and the ‘Agreement on Allied Cooperation,’” said Mirzoyan.
The meeting between Lavrov and Mirzoyan will be followed by a press conference with both ministers.
It is worth noting that from August 30 to 31, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan is on a working visit to the Russian Federation. In addition to the meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the visit includes a meeting with CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas.
