Artsakh's Independence Celebrations to Happen Without Armenian Leadership for the First Time in History
The newspaper "Joghovurd" reports that, for the first time in the history of newly independent Armenia and Artsakh, the celebrations of Artsakh's Independence Day will take place without the participation of the high leadership of Armenia. Specifically, a special session of the parliament will be held in Artsakh on September 1, followed by an event dedicated to Independence Day the next day, which will see no attendance from Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, or National Assembly President Alen Simonian.
In a conversation with "Joghovurd," Artsakh's Parliamentary President Arthur Tovmasyan stated that he has no information regarding the participation of the mentioned officials but noted that representatives from all parliamentary factions would be present at the special session and subsequent events.
Attempts to reach Prime Minister Pashinyan's press secretary Mane Gevorgyan were unsuccessful; however, it was learned that Pashinyan will not be in Armenia during those days, as he is on vacation in Sochi. Alen Simonian's press secretary Tzovinar Khachatryan mentioned that the Armenian National Assembly delegation will be led by one of the vice presidents, comprising committee chairs and MPs. This means Alen Simonian will also not travel to Artsakh.
Thus, for the first time in history, Artsakh will celebrate its Independence Day without the high leadership of Armenia.
