Travel Ban Lifted for Yuri Khachaturov
The Criminal Court of Appeals of Armenia has commenced hearings regarding the appeals from defense attorneys and state prosecutors concerning the termination of the criminal case against Robert Kocharyan, Yuri Khachaturov, Seyran Ohanyan, and Armen Gevorgyan, on charges of allegedly overthrowing the constitutional order.
During the previous session, there was a motion from state prosecutor Gevorg Baghdasaryan to suspend the proceedings and appeal to the Constitutional Court. The appellate court postponed the resolution of that motion.
At the beginning of this session, Yuri Khachaturov's lawyer, Mihran Poghosyan, requested the court to lift the travel ban imposed on his client, arguing that the criminal case against him has been terminated, and the precautionary measure should be annulled. The prosecution did not oppose the request.
However, a representative from the victims and their successors, Seda Safaryan, raised an objection. Nonetheless, the court decided to lift the travel restrictions on Yuri Khachaturov and proceeded to examine the appeals.
