Six-Year-Old Dies from Coronavirus in Tbilisi
A six-year-old child has died from coronavirus at the Tsitsishvili Children's Clinic in Tbilisi. The clinic's director, Maia Chkhaidze, reported that the child was admitted on August 27 in extremely critical condition, as reported by Novosti-Georgia.
“The six-year-old patient was brought to the clinic on Friday in extremely severe condition. Immediately after arrival, he was put on a ventilator. The child had several underlying conditions, including cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and psychiatric disorders. Against the backdrop of the coronavirus infection, septic shock developed, and the patient passed away,” the clinic's director stated.
Approximately 80 teenagers are still receiving treatment for coronavirus at the Tsitsishvili Children's Clinic, with 29 remaining in the intensive care unit. Three of them are in critical condition and on ventilators, according to Sputnik-Georgia. Statistics indicate that children account for 10 percent of the daily coronavirus cases in Georgia.
