Forest Fires Continue in Turkey
In Turkey, new outbreaks of forest fires have ignited in two additional regions of Dersim. The fire that broke out in the Yailadere area of Bingöl has not yet been extinguished.
The fire in the Hozat district of Dersim, which has been ongoing for 13 days, has been partially brought under control with the deployment of helicopters. However, simultaneously, new outbreaks have emerged in Ovajık.
In the evening hours, firefighting efforts had to be suspended, and the wind has further intensified the flames. The forest fires that broke out near the villages of Çıkan and Sarıtosun in the Yailadere district of Bingöl spread rapidly, driven by the wind, reaching populated areas and damaging electrical lines.
According to local authorities in Bingöl, the fire in the village of Çıkan has been brought under control for now.
